About Us

Founded in 1988, New England Garden Company is the insider's source for rare and authentic garden antiques, architectural features, and fine handmade reproductions. With a 6,000-square-foot showroom and an outdoor display, New England Garden Company is the largest purveyor of decorative garden elements in the northeast.

From its bucolic beginnings on a rustic farm, NE Garden has been an imaginative and energetic force in reestablishing ornamentation in American landscape design. Now a destination for garden lovers everywhere, proprietor Gray Baldwin and her design team have curated a collection of American and European antique ornamentation, furniture, armillary sundials, custom fountains, statuary and other treasures.

We pride ourselves in our extensive selection, created for us by exceptional small foundries, dry cast stone makers, and artisans across England and beyond.

Our gardens and gallery in lovely Sudbury, Massachusetts, feature finds by local artisans, stone carvers, metal workers and potters. New England Garden Company is the leading marketplace for important garden antiques or unique handmade artisanal reproductions.

Sourcing the most beautiful, timeless, and weather-hardy garden accouterments is Gray Baldwin’s passion as owner and manager of New England Garden Company. A long-time gardener – orchids are her amore – Gray combines her love for antique ornaments, history, and travel to satisfy clients’ requests, from traditional classics to the more unexpected eclectic flourishes. Gray combines a business background from MIT’s MBA program with a skilled eye for fine garden ornaments.

She travels far and wide to find the extraordinary pieces she’s known for – with over 2,000 pieces in inventory, there’s something for everyone.

Gray personally oversees the delightful selection of inventory, many from auctions, farms, salvage yards, and period homes from Italy, France, England, and more. One of a kind pieces – statuary, benches, armillary sundials, urns, pedestals, birdbaths, English lead, and cast stone fountains – arrive several times a year from Europe, exemplifying craftsmanship and care that simply doesn’t exist today. As well, contemporary pieces are carried to complement the traditional and antique ornaments.

New England Garden Company works closely with landscape architects, designers, consumers, and private estates. Many noteworthy gardens in Nantucket, Long Island, Westchester County and Newport have our pieces on display, including fashion designer Oscar de la Renta’s magnificent Connecticut grounds. NE Garden has also provided design consultation, special reproductions and important garden ornaments for clients such as:

Trustees for Reservations
Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities
Preservation Society of Newport
Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy
New Jersey Botanical Garden
Tower Hill Botanic Garden

Dedicated service and guaranteed authenticity are our hallmarks. We offer personal attention, one-on-one consultation, recommendations for conservation and maintenance, and safe delivery of products, whether across the street or around the world. Our design team creates distinctive water features and vignettes in the showroom, utilizing a unique mixture of antiques, reproduction pieces and interesting salvage finds.
