The use of water in the garden to nurture nature is seen most obviously in the use of a birdbath. With interest in gardening expanding in the 1800s more homeowners turned to gardening as a way to spend time outside socializing. Birdbaths were one of the first garden ornaments that were easily purchased and a simple, yet satisfying, focal point for a new garden.
