Large Antique Trough, Yorkstone
Beautifully carved and unusual English antique stone trough, made to fit into a corner with rounded front. Hand hewn, consistent proportions and deep, made from Yorkstone. Nicely weathered with moss.
Provenance: This trough comes from the historic Haugh End House in Yorkshire England. We had the good fortune of stumbling upon Haugh End House’s garden sale in 2019 at which time the house and property went on sale for the first time in 250 years. We purchased 4 of their beautiful stone farm troughs which were scattered around the property (two troughs are currently available).
This historically and architecturally important house was built in 1768 by John Carr. A once large 18th century estate centered on the Country House with ancillary servant quarters and stables is listed as a Grade II star property.
